City of Sarasota Downtown Improvement District

Tommy was asked to be one of the five board of directors of the City
of Sarasota Downtown Improvement District and was appointed
by unanimous vote in the fall of 2011, for a three year term.
This board meets every other Tuesday morning at City Hall and
the members are dedicated to providing recommendations on the maintenance,
repair and replacement, including substantial capital improvements.

In April, 2012 as a result of the DID's recommendation to the City Commission,
$4,700,000 was approved for improvements to Main Street and
1st Street which will be invested by the DID for sidewalk, landscape,
lighting and street improvements. This work shall be completed late
summer 2012 and in the spring 2013.

 

The City of Sarasota Parks, Recreation, and
Environmental Protection Advisory Board

On Monday 6/18/12 Sarasota City Commission voted Tommy on as the newest member
of the Parks, Recreation and Environmental Board. Tommy joined the board
as an endeavor to help improve and effectively maintain 39 City parks, swimming facilities,
beaches, waterfront sail & boating craft launches, tennis facilities and the like. This would entail
several meetings per year on budgeting and recommendations for the maintenance
and operations of the 39 parks located throughout the City.
